Bacardi Cup

Come and share our passion for excellence as we celebrate over nine decades of Star Class racing. In 2021, the fleet will once again congregate at the Coral Reef Yacht Club and Biscayne Bay Yacht Club for the 94th Bacardi Cup, which is incorporated within the Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta from 7-13 March 2021.

The Bacardi Cup has long been a ‘must-do’ event for Star sailors’ and it is easy to see why, with world-class racing backed up by the intrigue of immense heritage and prestige, combined with memorable post-event hospitality and parties.

Known the world over, each year the Bacardi Cup attracts an international and star-studded entry list of America’s Cup, Volvo Ocean Race, Olympians and World Championship names, racing alongside a talented fleet of amateur teams and weekend warriors. Understandably, international travel bans due to Covid-19 have impacted the entry list for 2021.

Bacardi Cup Invitational Regatta

The Bacardi Cup International Regatta guarantees the perfect combination of racing on warm turquoise waters and a unique post-race atmosphere. The shore side exudes bonhomie and fun, as sailors unwind boosted along by the exceptional Bacardi hospitality at the nightly after parties.

As patrons, the venerable Bacardi Rum brand and the Bacardi family have been bringing their unique style to the event since the inaugural Bacardi Cup was presented in 1927, and their active involvement continues for 2021.

In 2021, the racing format has been curtailed due to Covid-19 restrictions with racing only possible for the Star (limited to 40 entries), J70 (limited to 25 entries) and Melges24 (limited to 25 entries), with racing sadly cancelled for the Viper 640 and VX One classes.

We look forward to returning to the usual full program in 2022 and again welcoming our sailing friends from around the world to the stunning waters of Biscayne Bay.
