Bacardí Celebrates 100th Star Class World Championship

September 8-17, 2022, Marblehead, USA

Bacardí is very proud to be invited to support the Star Class World Championship. This regatta will be making sailing history with its 100th World Championship, September 8-17, 2022, in Marblehead Massachusetts.

As presenting sponsor, the world-renowned beverage brand will celebrate its long-standing partnership with the Star Class by hosting the gala dinner on Wednesday, September 14. As usual we will be serving our world class cocktails to our sailors and all supporters.

The Star World Championship will be a feast of nostalgia, bringing together Star sailors from the 20thand 21st centuries who will be celebrating a 100-year legacy.

“Bacardí is very proud to be the presenting sponsor given our almost century of partnership with the Star Class. It is a partnership cherished by many,” commented Eddie Cutillas, Bacardí USA. “We wish all competitors an incredible 100th Star Class Worlds with fantastic racing, great friendship and camaraderie.

“We are looking forward to celebrating 100 years of the Star Class Worlds and getting the party started with great Bacardí cocktails.  Vintage rum and sailing. What could be better.  We trust everyone will enjoy the Bacardí experience.

The Star Class has always represented a hot bed of the world’s sailing talent and the 2022 Star Worlds will be no different.  The Star power will be coming in from across the world. Amongst the 170 sailors competing, there will be numerous past World Champions, who will be looking over their shoulders keeping an eye on future generations  in the strong U30 teams.

The Star Class World Championship will celebrate the great heritage of the class and its sailors, with special guests and legends attending the regatta, on shore cocktail hours, and the gala dinner celebrations.

After the practice race on Saturday, September 10, racing gets underway on September 11 with the six-races series featuring a traditional two-hour long daily race, scheduled to start at 12:30 hours and at 10:30 hours on the final day.

The competition will be close and intense as seventy-five teams compete to have their names inscribed on the winners’ trophy, along with claiming the age category trophies and prizes.
